About Alexia Elliott
Alexia Elliott is a hypnotherapist, Jungian practitioner, shamanic practitioner, educator and founder of Sacred Alchemy, based in Leicester, England.
She is the creator of Sacred Alchemy, an integrative therapeutic approach that combines Ericksonian hypnosis, Jungian depth psychology, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), somatic awareness and shamanic practice. Her work focuses on psychological and personal transformation, supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions and existential or spiritual questions.
Alexia works with clients throughout the UK and internationally, offering both in-person sessions in Leicester and online appointments.
Professional Background
Alexia began her career in psychiatric, forensic and community mental health services during the early 1990s, working with individuals experiencing severe mental illness, homelessness, trauma and domestic abuse. These early clinical experiences shaped her conviction that meaningful change requires understanding the whole person rather than focusing solely on symptoms.
She later trained in Ericksonian hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Jungian psychology, before travelling to Peru to study with Shipibo practitioners and participating in traditional learning experiences in West Africa. These experiences informed the development of Sacred Alchemy, an approach that integrates contemporary psychological practice with insights drawn from indigenous healing traditions.
Alexia founded the Sacred Alchemy Practitioner Training in 2021 and has since trained practitioners through Foundation and Advanced programmes.
Alongside her therapeutic work, she contributes to the teaching of communication, relational awareness and human-centred practice within the ophthalmic curriculum at the University of Leicester
Therapeutic Philosophy
Alexia's work is founded on the principle that symptoms are meaningful expressions of psychological experience rather than simply problems to eliminate.
Anxiety, emotional distress and recurring relational patterns are approached as adaptive responses that developed within a person's life history. Rather than working solely towards symptom reduction, therapy seeks to understand the deeper psychological processes that gave rise to those patterns and to support change at their source.
Drawing upon Jungian psychology, Alexia views healing as a cyclical process of increasing self-awareness, integration and personal development. Her work encourages clients to move beyond survival strategies towards a more authentic relationship with themselves.
Sacred Alchemy
Sacred Alchemy is Alexia Elliott's integrative therapeutic framework.
It combines Ericksonian hypnosis, Jungian depth psychology, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, somatic awareness and shamanic practice within a coherent model of psychological and personal transformation.
The approach is used both within individual therapy and within the Sacred Alchemy Practitioner Training, where students develop practical therapeutic skills alongside their own psychological development.
Areas of Expertise
Alexia works with adults experiencing:
Anxiety
Trauma
Grief and bereavement
Burnout
Low confidence and self-worth
Repeating relationship patterns
Life transitions
Existential and spiritual questions
Personal development

Professional Influences
Alexia's thinking has been influenced by the work of Carl Jung, Milton Erickson, Marion Woodman, James Hollis, Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Marie-Louise von Franz, Toni Wolff, Fritz Perls and Mircea Eliade.
Her work synthesises these psychological and philosophical traditions into her own integrative approach rather than following any single school exclusively.
Teaching, Writing and Workshops
Alexia teaches the Sacred Alchemy Practitioner Training and facilitates workshops exploring depth psychology, embodiment, hypnosis, symbolism and personal transformation.
She also writes regularly through her Journal and Substack publication, Tonics and Tales, exploring themes including archetypes, psychological development, mythology, shamanic practice and the meaning of emotional suffering.
Distinctive Perspective
Alexia's work is characterised by an integration of clinical hypnotherapy, Jungian psychology and shamanic practice within a single therapeutic framework.
Rather than viewing symptoms as isolated problems, she approaches them as meaningful expressions of the psyche that invite understanding. This perspective informs both her therapeutic work and her writing, which frequently explores the distinction between describing psychological experiences and understanding the processes that give rise to them.
